Chapter 20: Omen
After everything that happened, the popular trio Fuyunagi-san, Sakurada-san, and Sado managed to more or less make up.
And Fuyunagi-san dropped her ‘good girl’ act and started being her true self most of the time.
Even so, it seems she still puts on the ‘pure and quiet beautiful girl’ persona when dealing with the majority of people.
The other students were truly surprised that the top-class-caste couple, Sado and Sakurada, decided to let go of what Fuyunagi-san did to them in the past and rebuild their friendship with her.
Among the guys, Fuyunagi’s popularity hadn’t faded at all—if anything, it was still going strong. In fact, her real personality—sharp-tongued and a bit harsh—created a huge gap with the pure, gentle, motherly image she used to have, and that gap made her even more appealing to them. And that whole ‘If Majima can be her boyfriend, maybe I’ve got a shot too’ mindset only further fueled her popularity.
Today too, some shallow, flirty guy casually tried to confess to Fuyunagi again.
“Fuyunagi-san, go out with me! C’mon, I can make you way more into me than Majima ever could!”
“Ufufu, I’ll have to decline. I happen to prefer that Majima-kun you’re talking about. A girl like me, who has feelings for someone as ‘insignificant’ as Majima-kun, surely wouldn’t be a good match for someone like you.”
“N-no, no, that’s not true! Right?”
“Oh, really? Then if I start dating you… how will you take responsibility if I end up finding you boring?”
“Huh? Responsibility?”
“Of course. You’re telling me to break up with the Majima-kun I love and date you, correct? So if I tearfully break up with my precious Majima-kun, start going out with you, and it ends with me regretting it… how exactly do you plan to make up for that?”
“H-Huh…? Isn’t that kind of… extreme…? I mean, it’s just dating…”
“Ufufu. Maybe it’s trivial to you, but to me, it’s important. If I agree to date you, I have to devote my time to you as a person. Do you understand? Time is finite. Once it’s gone, it never comes back. If I waste my time on someone like you and don’t get anything worthwhile out of it, it all becomes meaningless. So, what exactly would yo—”
“Ahhh—okay, enough!! Forget it!! Forget the whole confession!!”
And just like that, the fools who let a moment of shallow desire push them into confessing were easily crushed by the true nature of the unfiltered Fuyunagi Shizuku…
But while that was happening, another small incident was just about to begin.
“Hey… my textbook’s gone.”
“Huh? Did you actually check properly?”
“It’s not in my desk or my bag…”
“Maybe you forgot it?”
“No waaay! I definitely put it in my bag this morning!! Ugh, why isn’t it here~!?”
Sakurada-san and Sado were fussing about something
It seemed her textbook was nowhere to be found.
Despite how she looks, Sakurada-san apparently takes her textbooks home every day and never leaves them sitting in her desk.
She is surprisingly diligent for a gyaru.
At this point, it seemed like a trivial matter of her forgetting or losing her textbook somewhere.
No one imagined that this would become the first event leading to a much bigger problem later on.
Character Summary (non-official)
- Majima Takuma / Taku (真島拓真 / タク) — Taku is an utterly average high school boy in both appearance and ability. His hair and uniform are always neat but unremarkable, giving him the classic “background character” characteristic.
- Fuyunagi Shizuku (冬柳 雫) — Fuyunagi Shizuku is a stunning black-haired high school beauty with a mature, graceful aura. Her long, silky hair, elegant posture, pure and innocent atmosphere, and impressive figure—including her large chest—give her an appearance so gentle and comforting that a tired working adult might instinctively want to cling to her and call her “Mama.” Her looks alone make her feel like a UR-rarity heroine. At school, she’s admired as a pure, wholesome, and almost ideal girl—popular among girls, constantly confessed to by boys, and always at the center of her class. In private, however, Shizuku reveals a selfish, bratty, and emotionally unstable side. She’s clingy, easily upset, mentally fragile, and relies heavily on her boyfriend for emotional support while demanding secrecy and setting controlling conditions in their relationship.
- Sakurada Nagisa (桜田 凪咲) — Sakurada Nagisa is a gyaru and one of the central members of Fuyunagi-san’s friend group. With light-brown hair, piercings, and perfectly applied bold eye makeup, she has a flashy style but is undeniably beautiful—cute enough to stand out even among the popular girls. Sado Kengo’s current girlfriend.
- Natsume Kano (夏芽 華乃) — The class president. A dignified, serious beauty whose pure appearance gives her a charm distinct from Fuyunagi-san. She prioritizes efficiency, logic, and rationality above all else, resulting in a rigid, no-nonsense personality that makes her unpopular with most classmates.
Sado Kengo (佐渡 健吾) — A high-spec soccer club member who once acted as Shizuku’s fake public boyfriend. He is now Sakurada Nagisa’s actual boyfriend.
- Kato (加藤) —The textbook “protagonist’s best friend” character.
